How We Work

Operating at the interface of art and science requires clarity of practice. In any domain, our work unfolds through three interconnected modes: investigation, creation, and translation.

Investigation begins with rigorous inquiry. We examine each domain of human vulnerability through interdisciplinary and clinical research as well as creative exploration. This phase generates new knowledge and reframes the questions that health systems typically ask.

Creation translates inquiry into form. We generate field-shaping artwork, build new technologies, and design care interventions that integrate both artistic and scientific insight.

Translation ensures durability and impact. We embed and evaluate our innovations within healthcare institutions, cultural organizations, workplaces, and communities. Through implementation science, partnership, and rigorous evaluation, we move the work beyond the studio and laboratory into contexts where it can tangibly reshape human experience.

These modes unfold in constant exchange. Research informs design, design shapes research, translation tests what holds under real-world conditions and generates new avenues for inquiry.
