Our Initiatives

Forever Lab’s initiatives operate at the intersection of art, science, and care, addressing complex human challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration.

Health Technology (upLIFT)
This platform embeds artists upstream in the design of emerging health technologies. The current pilot brings performing artists into the development of an AI-supported tool for serious illness care. Artists contribute to qualitative research, prototype design, and eventual clinical trials, demonstrating how artistic insight can shape technology intended for vulnerable human moments.

Longevity & Caregiving Systems (ATLAS)
ATLAS explores how artistic insight can contribute to the rapidly expanding field of caregiving innovation. In collaboration with Care Out Loud, we’re launching our pilot fellowship class with three teams focused on caregiving at different points in the lifespan. Focus is on translational work to move from philanthropically funded experiments to durable integration in larger systems, as well as wraparound field-building research.

Reproductive Loss & the Future of Work
This initiative investigates how workplaces can respond more humanely to reproductive loss. An artist-clinician-HR design cohort will develop tools and frameworks for organizations to help employers better support miscarriage and other reproductive loss when they arise in teams, reframing reproductive loss as a systems challenge inside the future of work.

Garden of Life and Death
A large-scale public work bridging engineering, medicine, and the arts — exploring mortality and legacy. This project serves as both a monumental physical artwork and a systems bridge across fields and across the worlds of the living and the dead, creating a visible anchor for Forever Lab’s mission.
