A research and field-building initiative that develops new frameworks for how people work together in an era of increasing human-machine teaming. We begin with healthcare as a critical problem space.

As artificial intelligence reorganizes team functions in healthcare, the greater challenge is reimagining how care is delivered and how teams are structured to meet complex human needs. The Future of Teams brings together a transdisciplinary bench of experts—from clinical practice, arts, athletics, bioinformatics, and lived patient and caregiver experience—to imagine and test fundamentally new models of collaboration.

We envision care ecosystems where patients and caregivers are essential members of the care team, with agency and voice alongside clinicians. This moment offers a rare opportunity to re-conceptualize the healthcare team and ensure that as technology transforms the processes of care, human connection and dignity are uplifted throughout. Through new frameworks, experimental models, and evidence, the Future of Teams will help shape more participatory and effective systems of healthcare delivery.
